Craniosacral Therapy

I am happy to announce that I will soon be offering craniosacral therapy. This modality addresses the structures surrounding the brain and spinal cord from the cranial bones to the sacrum and beyond. It was pioneered by Dr. John Upledger in the 1970’s. He was the first to observe the craniosacral pulse as the cerebrospinal fluid moves rhythmically around the tissues of the central nervous system. Craniosacral techniques are used to gently release restrictions in the soft tissue surrounding the brain and spinal column. These restrictions are the result of daily stresses and strains to the human body and can tighten and distort the tissues surrounding the craniosacral system. By releasing these distortions the body is allowed to return to optimal function. The effects can be varied and are sometimes quite profound. Here are some of the conditions that can be helped by craniosacral therapy:

  • Migraines and Headaches
  • Chronic Neck and Back Pain
  • Trauma & Pain from Falls
  • TMJ Syndrome
  • Scoliosis
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Vertigo
  • Stress and Tension-Related Disorders
  • Motor-Coordination Impairments
  • Infant and Childhood Disorders
  • Brain and Spinal Cord Injuries
  • Central Nervous System Disorders
  • Learning Disabilities
  • Autism
  • Chronic Fatigue
  • Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder
  • Orthopedic Problems

Feel free to contact me if you have questions or would like to discuss whether this modality would be helpful in your situation.
